Lorraine Chapman, choreography by Marcus Schulkind
Green Street co-Founder, teacher and choreographer Marcus
Schulkind, who the Boston Globe called, "a
modern-dance classicist whose choreography is terse, true
and beautifully crafted" choreographs a program of
solo and duets for "ones and twos”.
Performers
in the program include Lorraine Chapman,
Kelli Edwards, Jim Viera,
Nicole Pierce, Liz Waterhouse,
and Nina Brindamour,
and features concert pieces performed
by Soprano Michelle Trainor with pianists
Yoko Hagino (Friday) and David
McGrory (Saturday).

The
Emerging Artist Award provides the opportunity for young,
New England based choreographers to create work with mentorship
from experienced choreographer, Alissa Cardone. This
project provides choreographers with a small amount of rehearsal
space and a fully-produced, shared concert with other emerging
artists.
This concert is sponsored by Green Street Studios.
Through its support of both established and emerging professionals,
Green Street Studios provides students of all levels, and
the wider public, the opportunity to explore and establish
connections of their own to the traditions and commitments
of disciplined movement.

evening in eight episodes
BECOME is a distillation of mood
and meaning – moving from introspection to discovery,
from despair to ecstasy. Contemporary Dance, Capoeira, Bharata Natyam,
Odissi, Butoh, African dance and American Sign Language poetry are
woven in the solitary tapestry of a single body moving in space.
